Frequently Asked Questions
Is Base64 a form of encryption?
No. Base64 is an encoding scheme designed to safely transmit binary or arbitrary text data across text-only protocols like HTTP and SMTP. Anyone can decode it.
What is the difference between standard and URL-safe Base64?
Standard Base64 uses "+" and "/", which require percent-encoding in URLs. URL-safe Base64 substitutes "-" and "_" to avoid URL parsing issues.
Does this encoder support multi-byte Unicode and emoji?
Yes. Text is converted to UTF-8 byte arrays before Base64 encoding, so international characters and emoji encode without corruption.
