Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about UniversalCodeStudio: cost, privacy and data handling, file and URL loading, browser support, ads, commercial use and how to report a bug.

Is UniversalCodeStudio free?

Yes. All 64 tools are free to use, with no account, no trial period and no paid tier.

Is my input sent to a server?

Yes. When you run a tool, the text in the editor is sent over HTTPS to our server, processed in memory, and the result is returned to your browser. It is not saved, logged or cached.

Is it safe to paste sensitive data?

We do not store tool input, but because it does travel to our server for processing, we recommend you do not paste live production secrets such as private keys, passwords or access tokens into any online tool. Replace them with placeholder values first.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Every tool works without signing up or logging in.

Does the site show ads?

The site currently does not display ad units. Ad network scripts load only if advertising is explicitly enabled in server configuration.

How does “Load URL” work?

When you click “Load URL” and enter an address, our server downloads the address you enter (with a 10-second timeout) and places the response in the editor. The URL must be publicly reachable; pages behind a login or firewall cannot be loaded.

Can I upload a file instead of pasting?

Yes. Use “Upload File” to open a text-based file such as .json, .xml, .html, .css, .js or .sql. Your browser reads the file and puts its text in the editor; it is processed like pasted text when you run the tool.

Which browsers are supported?

Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop and mobile. JavaScript must be enabled to use the interactive editor.

Can I use the output in commercial projects?

Yes. Output you generate is yours to use in personal and commercial work. Always review generated code before shipping it to production.

Is there a public API?

No. The tools are available through the website only.

How do I sort JSON keys alphabetically?

On the JSON Beautifier, JSON Minifier, JSON Validator, JSON to XML, JSON to YAML, YAML to JSON and YAML to XML pages, click “Sort Keys” above the input editor. Keys are sorted alphabetically at every nesting level.

A tool gave a wrong result. How do I report it?

Use the Contact page and include the tool name, the input you used and the output you expected. A small sample that reproduces the problem is the fastest way to get it fixed.
